The NCAA has recently announced that they are changing the way overtime takes place in football games. The new rule will now require all teams to attempt a two-point conversion starting in the second overtime session. The rules currently don’t force teams to attempt two-point conversions until the fifth overtime session.
The rule was changed to reduce the chance of injury for the competing college athletes. These rules won’t affect Ohio State too much as opponents rarely make it to overtime, and when they do they rarely go beyond the second session. But, you never know, especially in games where the compete level is more even.
The last time Ohio State played in overtime was against Maryland in 2018 when the Buckeyes squeaked by the Terrapins by one point in the 52-51 victory.

There have been some epic games in college football with the current overtime setup. This might reduce some of those classic marathons we’ve seen, but it should add some intrigue to things once we get past one possession for each team.
