Let’s not get too cranked up about Liberty, and let’s not get too into the idea that Virginia is looking ahead to the game that actually does matter against Virginia Tech. Remember, this is the same Liberty team that was shutout 24-0 by Syracuse and and lost by ten a Rutgers team that’s really, realty bad at college football. The Cavs -17 is nice and low.

Yeah, Notre Dame has the ability to turn the lights out on a one-dimensional team – like it did last week against Navy – but Boston College doesn’t seem to have problems only doing one thing really, really well. Liked it at BC getting 18, love it at 21.5.

Don’t be that guy who bets on FCS vs. FBS games … unless the line on the Mercer-North Carolina game goes up to 40 or more. It’s at UNC -39 right now, and that’s about right. The Tar Heels will win easily, but the Bears are just good enough to score a touchdown or two and keep this from blowing up.

Home team, slightly better defense, a bit more offensive diversity, playing better overall … don’t think too hard about this Virginia Tech is only giving away 3.5 at home against Pitt – it moved up from 1 and will end up around 4.5. Be careful with the point total that’s right at around 46, but is moving.

Yeah, yeah, yeah, Syracuse showed up against Duke last week, came up with a slew of takeaways, and won with stunning ease. That’s not happening again on the road at Louisville. However, the Cardinals aren’t going to make this easy. You’re fine at UofL at 9.5, but wait until the last second – it’ll go up to at least 10 by gametime.

Miami going down the road to play at FIU seems like it should be a moment for the Group of Fiver. All of these guys know each other, FIU will get up for the game at a whole other level, and … whatever. The Canes are going to care about this, too. FIU hasn’t beaten anyone and was rolled by 30 against FAU and by 33 by a Middle Tennessee team that just lost to Rice. The Canes are a bit of a gift at 20.5.

I have NO idea why I like Duke getting 7 against Wake Forest, and it’s scaring me that others are jumping on this, too. It was at 6.5 to start, moved up to 7.5, and is now coming back down. The only reason to like this? Duke is better than it’s been playing, and – 44-10 win over NC State aside – Wake Forest really might not be the same without WR Sage Surratt.

If you’ve been following this at all this year, you’re well aware that I can never, ever, ever, ever, ever, ever get West Virginia right. I’m not buying the 24-20 win over Kansas State – especially a Kansas State team coming off a loss. The line went down from Cowboys -8 to 5.5 – you’re fine either way.

Baylor is about to bounce back. The pass rush is too good, Charlie Brewer is too good, and this team’s resolve is too good. Texas is missing too many parts to be sharp for a full four quarters. If you like Baylor, the five you’re giving away is no big deal.

Stay away. Stay away from Kansas State at Texas Tech, considering the Wildcats are just good enough to control the game throughout, and the Red Raiders desperately need this to stay alive in the bowl mix. Yeah, Oklahoma is great, but it’s not ripping teams in ugly blowouts lately. Three of the last four wins were by a touchdown or less, and there was a loss to Kansas State in there. The 18 TCU is getting is nice and fat – take the shot that OU will keep winning, but keep winning close.

Yeah, Minnesota might not have QB Tanner Morgan. Northwestern likely won’t have QB Aidan Smith, either. There’s no reason to be concerned that everything is going to start working for the Wildcat offense now that Andrew Marty is under center. The line, though, hasn’t changed – 13.5 is a steal.

Iowa is a whole lot better than Illinois in a lot of ways with a defense that could slow everything down, but the games are just so tight. Five of Iowa’s last six games were decided by seven points or fewer, with the one exception being a 20-0 win over Northwestern. Giving the Illini 16 is too rich.

Now the Boilermakers are throwing a third-string quarterback at a Badger defense in the final home game of the year in a must-win game to set up a showdown against Minnesota. The line started at USC -10, went up to around 14, and seems to have settled in at 13.5. USC is better, but … it’s a rivalry game. Two touchdowns feels like a lot to give away.

This Arizona State game scares the hell out of me. The Sun Devils are better than they’re playing, there’s a history of Oregon having issues in this state … but against the other team. The Ducks are 11-1 against the Sun Devils since 2004, and they’re going to get it done again. But to win by more than 14 on the road agains a jacked up ASU team that needs this … it scares me.

If it’s not the Oregon date at Arizona State that’s going to throw some sort of a wrench into the Pac-12 world, Utah going to Arizona seems like that out-of-the-blue twist that just might … nah. Believe in these Utes. They’re playing at too high a level to biff it against a Wildcat defense that’s not stopping a thing. The 23 seems like a lot, but the Utah defense has the potential to shut down Arizona to a dead stop no matter what it tries to do.

Washington -14.5 is about dead-on right at Colorado. Don’t go lower than that. The Huskies are rested, but it’s the Buffs’ final home game of the year and they have just enough of an offense to be annoying. And OF COURSE this applies to the big boys, too. LSU doesn’t need to win by 50. It’s going to want to get up and be very very done with Arkansas so it can move on. No way, now how will Joe Burrow be playing a second more than he has to, and if he is, then the Hogs getting 43 really isn’t an issue.

It’s possible for Georgia to beat Texas A&M with relative ease and still not cover the 13. This is a solid Aggie squad that doesn’t get blown out, and Georgia is just one of those teams that knows how to maintain control doing what it does.
