College Football 26 Playbooks Have Finally Been Revealed

We are just a week away from the release of College Football 26. And predictably, fans are stoked! College Football 25 — EA’s first foray into college football in over a decade — was an absolute hit among sports gamers. Not only did they love the game, but copies of it sold like hot cakes. In 2024, College Football 25 was the best-selling sports game in the United States, not just of the year, but ever. On top of that, it was the second-highest selling game in the country, regardless of genre. The only game that sold more was Call of Duty: Black Ops 6. So, it isn’t a stretch to say that hype over College Football 26 is at an all-time high.

In the lead-up to its inevitable launch, we’ve seen a ton of changes that have been made in CFB 26. This includes over 15 minutes of gameplay, the game’s top-rated players, and way more. But what will the playbooks look like?

As I’ve iterated in past pieces, college sports fans are sticklers for realism. This is especially true among gamers, who wish to see their favorite schools represented as close to real life as possible. And the playbooks aren’t just a part of that, but a significant chunk.

Prior to release, the full playbook for every team in College Football 26 has been revealed.

College Football 26 Playbooks Available Now

Ever since the beta, playbooks available in College Football 26 have been slowly trickling out. But rather than wait for the game to release on July 10, collegefootball.gg has now disclosed every playbook that will be in the game, and for every individual team.

Going through all of them with a fine-toothed comb is virtually impossible due to time constraints, but there are some that stand out.

One of the most fun of those playbooks is that of Penn State, which makes good use of the wildcat formation — a college football favorite. There are also some fun passing schemes, such as the Trips Y Slot, which features three wide receivers to the right of the offensive line. These plays should be a blast to execute with Drew Allar under center.

Ohio State also looks particularly tasty. A primarily shotgun-centric offense, a lot of plays will be built around getting the ball into the hands of Jeremiah Smith, easily the best player in college football right now. Of course, there is also wideout Carnell Tate and tight end Max Klare, both of whom will be a great weapons for whomever you choose to start at QB (probably Julian Sayin).
