College Football 26 Brings Back the Trophy Room

One of the old features from EA’s NCAA Football 14 that was missing in College Football 25 was the trophy room. Along with Road to Glory’s high school games, this was among the most requested features from the olden days. Well, both will be in CFB 26.

We got a look at the Road to Glory high school setup in the reveal trailer that was posted today, but in EA’s blog that tied into the trailer, they revealed that the trophy room is also returning:

We heard your feedback and thanks to you, Trophy Room is back! Now is your chance to show off to your friends… and rivals, how successful you really are. There will be multiple ways for you to earn different kinds of Trophies:

  • Coach and manage your program in Dynasty.
  • Focus on your journey as a college football legend in Road to Glory
  • Dominate online in the Road to the College Football Playoffs
  • Compete in classic rivalry games in Play Now.

For those who don’t remember the trophy room, it wasn’t that it was so special from a presentation standpoint — I think stuff like saving your highlights and scoring your greatest games were much cooler features from the old games — but it was something that we used to care about overall much more in sports games and that is tracking our accomplishments in-game in some way.

Not to say “it used to be better” but before achievements/trophies and a “share” button that posted things to our socials or YouTube replaced a lot of this stuff in the “give me my dopamine” category, developers used to spend more time giving us ways to track our own achievements in games. The trophy room was a good example of that as it was a simple way for us to remember all the cool stuff we had been able to do during our many hours playing the game.

Just appreciate a video I still get a crack out of watching from YouTube user Bubby Dean to understand the trophy room:

You don’t need a life king, speak your truth Bubby Dean!

Anywho, I do hope the presentation gets an upgrade this time around since EA spends all this time rendering tons of trophies for cutscenes so why not have a way to walk through the trophy room and appreciate things in a bigger way? However, we’ll have to see how it all looks when the game launches on July 10.
