Youtube star Colleen Ballinger, known for her quirky and weird Miranda Sings character, will make her Broadway debut in August.
Ballinger will star in the musical Waitress, an adaptation of Adrienne Shelly’s 2007 film and book by Jessie Nelson.
She has been cast as the character Dawn, a waitress and friend of the titular character Jenna, a pie-baking waitress who begins an affair with her gynaecologist after finding out she’s pregnant by her abusive husband.
The internet sensation will spend four weeks in the role, from August 20 to September 15.
Ballinger is no stranger to fame, as she has over 20 million followers on Youtube, two seasons of a show and a special on Netflix, and is currently touring as a one-woman show.
Despite her over-the-top, tone-deaf covers as Miranda Sings, Ballinger is a classically trained singer who said in a Youtube video: “You don’t understand how exciting this is for me.”
“This has literally been my dream since I could speak.”
