Colin the Caterpillar gets deep fried by East Kilbride chip shop

The spotlight has been on Marks and Spencer's Colin the Caterpillar for several weeks now as things got nasty with Aldi's Cuthbert.

M&S lodged an intellectual property claim with the High Court against Cuthbert the Caterpillar cake and the fallout has been dramatic, with plenty pledging their allegiance to a side of the great caterpillar cake divide.

An East Kilbride chip shop has got in on the action now, creating a battered Colin the Caterpillar cake.

Food delivery service East Kilbride Eats asked Emanuel's fish and chip shop to take on the task of deep frying Colin.

And as East Kilbride Eats has made their support for Cuthbert clear, we're inclined to think Colin getting battered wasn't necessarily an act of affection..

The service showed the end result on their social media. They said: "We took up the cause and we’ve only gone and done it!!

"Emanuel's fish & chip shop over in St Leonards kindly helped us to batter a caterpillar cake and stand up for Cuthbert!"

East Kilbride Eats then offered a slice of Colin for free to the first six orders - we're struggling to imagine what a deep fried Colin would taste like...

What do you think, Glasgow? Would you try a battered Colin the Caterpillar?
