Colin Kaepernick trade rumors won't die despite denial by 49ers GM

March 09--Colin Kaepernick may be the next 49ers star on his way out of San Francisco.

Houston-based NFL reporter Jayson Braddock tweeted Sunday night that Kaepernick is "on the trading block" and that the 49ers are "taking offers" for their franchise quarterback.

Braddock later added that the Philadelphia Eagles and Chicago Bears are "in talks" with the 49ers about a deal. The reporter also said his story had been verified by three different sources.

San Francisco General Manager Trent Baalke responded quickly with a team-issued statement.

"Colin is our quarterback and we are excited to have him," Baalke said. "He is not going anywhere. The media reports suggesting otherwise are without merit and quite frankly ridiculous."

Sure, it's ridiculous. Kaepernick has gone 25-14 as the 49ers' starting quarterback, helping the team reach the Super Bowl once and the NFC championship game twice.

But some might have said the same about the departures of former coach Jim Harbaugh, now with the University of Michigan after mutually agreeing to part ways with the 49ers in December, and running back Frank Gore, reportedly ready to sign with the Eagles.

Braddock is sticking with his story. And as for that denial from Baalke?

"49ers upset they got caught. It happens," Braddock tweeted Monday morning.
