Colin Kaepernick threw a TD pass to Saquon Barkley in charity football game appearance

It’s been a long time since anybody has seen Colin Kaepernick throw a football in a public setting. The former 49ers quarterback hasn’t played in the NFL since his season-long protest of racial injustice in 2016.

On Sunday, he was back on a football field and competing with NFL talent.

Kaepernick made a surprise appearance at Atlanta rapper Quavo’s “Huncho Day” flag football game. He arrived to the event with former 49ers teammate (and current Panthers safety) Eric Reid.

It’s impossible to put any stock into a flag-football game performance, so I’m not going try. But there’s no denying that Kaepernick has remained in shape — just look at him. He deserves to be on an NFL roster. At quarterback, he threw a touchdown pass to Giants running back Saquon Barkley.

He also had some help on the two-point conversion from Quavo on an acrobatic catch.

Players like Alvin Kamara and Barkley were excited that Kaepernick took part in Quavo’s birthday event, which benefits Atlanta-area youth.
