Colin Kaepernick, Eric Reid settle collusion grievances with NFL

Carolina Panthers safety Eric Reid and former San Francisco 49ers quarterback Colin Kaepernick have resolved their collusion grievances with the NFL, according to a joint statement from the league and the lawyers for Reid and Kaepernick.

The full statement reads:

“For the past several months, counsel for Mr. Kaepernick and Mr. Reid have engaged in an ongoing dialogue with representatives of the NFL. As a result of those discussions, the parties have decided to resolve the pending grievances. The resolution of this matter is subject to a confidentiality agreement so there will be no further comment by any party.”

While Kaepernick remains unsigned, Reid this week signed a three-year, $22 million extension to remain with the Panthers, for whom he started 13 games and recorded 71 tackles last season.

The NFL Players Association released a statement following news of the settlement.

Kaepernick and Reid filed their grievances with the belief that they were being blackballed from the NFL for their decision to kneel during the national anthem in protest of social injustice.
