Colin Farrell hails bravery of longtime friend with rare condition as she takes on charity challenge

Colin Farrell has hailed the bravery of a longtime friend with a rare skin disease as she prepares for a gruelling charity challenge.

Emma Fogarty was born with Epidermolysis Bullosa, also known as butterfly skin, which is a disorder that causes the skin layers and internal body linings to blister and wound at the slightest touch.

On June 25, to mark her birthday, the Co Laois woman is setting out to complete 36km in a wheelchair to raise funds for Debra Ireland.

Farrell, who has known Emma for 10 years, joined her on the Ray D’Arcy show yesterday to send on his support for her efforts.

The 44-year-old said: “It may seem like nothing to anyone but Emma’s condition, the smallest little bump is absolute agony. It’s just incredible stuff. [She’s a] legend.”
