Colin Farrell and Brendan Gleeson set to miss Critics' Choice Awards after they 'catch COVID'

The Banshees of Inisherin actors Colin Farrell and Brendan Gleeson have reportedly tested positive for Coronavirus and will miss out on the Critics’ Choice Awards in Los Angeles this evening.

The news was revealed by Variety’s Senior Culture & Events Editor Marc Malkin, who wrote a tweet reporting the news. However, he did not cite a source in particular.

Colin, 46, has been nominated for the Best Actor award for his performance as Pádraic Súilleabháin in the new film whilst 67-year-old Brendan, who plays Colm Doherty in the movie, is up for the Best Supporting Actor award.

Marc took to the social media platform to write: “Here we go again. Just confirmed that #colinfarrell and #brendongleeson won't be at #CriticsChoiceAwards tomorrow because they have both tested positive for COVID.”

It comes just after Jamie Lee Curtis was also forced to bow out of the award ceremony due to contracting Covid-19.

The 64-year-old was nominated for the Best Supporting Actress category for Everything Everywhere All at Once and took to Instagram on Friday to inform her fans that she will be missing the ceremony.

She said beside an image of three positive Coronavirus tests: “F*** COVID! Sadly, this head cheerleader is not going to be at all the weekend festivities cheering on her friends and colleagues.

“Life on life’s terms.”

Despite the star looking forward to attending the rest of the events in her busy award season schedule, Jamie threw her support towards her friends and fellow actors.

She continued in her post: “I’m glad that there are all these home tests available so that I didn’t go to the @americanfilminstitute lunch and spread my germs.

“I was SO looking forward to going to the @bafta tea and the @criticschoice awards as a nominee and member of a motley crew!

"I’m so proud of these people, and I look forward to cheering them on through my TV set. Stay safe out there people.”
