Colin Doyle opens up on life at Kilmarnock and aims for better results

Colin Doyle admits he's loving getting a run of games – but he's hating the results.

The Kilmarnock goalkeeper, who is on loan from Hearts, has started the Rugby Park side's last three matches in between the sticks.

But with three losses and seven goals conceded, he is adamant to turn that round.

Speaking exclusively to the Kilmarnock Standard, he said: "I am happy to be getting a run of games, everyone wants to play.

"When Danny [Rogers] was in he was playing well, but it's nice personally to get in the team.

"But I would have liked to get a few clean sheets and wins, that's the most important thing.

"We will see what happens going forward with Danny back from injury soon enough I think.

"But as long as the team are winning that's the most important thing."

The most recent loss was against Motherwell in a match which was new boss Tommy Wright's first in charge.

Killie fell to a 1-0 defeat as a second-half Allan Campbell strike put them to the sword.

Doyle reckons they were hard done by but knows they need to start scoring.

He said: "It was a disappointing result, I think anyone who saw the game knows we didn't deserve to lose.

"Worst case scenario it should have been 0-0 which would have stopped the rot and we could go again.

"But football can be cruel at times, we just need to dust ourselves down and make sure we are ready for the next game.

"We have got 10 big games coming up and we need to be ready for them."

He added: "There was positives to take from the game, we pressed from the front and forced them into mistakes which was pleasing.

"The manager had only been in for two days of training when we played, so it was good to see them taking on what he was saying.

"The gaffer was happy with the performance, but performances don't win games, scoring goals and keeping clean sheets does.

"We have to build on the positives between now and the end of the season and hopefully turn losses into wins."

Killie head to Ibrox tomorrow just one point above a relegation play-off spot and four off bottom-placed Hamilton Accies.

They will take on a Rangers side who dropped points to Hamilton last week in a huge clash.

Doyle said: "These next 10 games are huge, and they're coming round thick and fast.

"We have played four in the last two weeks and we go again on Saturday.

"Rangers will be a difficult place to go, but we have got to go as confident as we can be and frustrate them and hopefully get a positive result."
