Colin Cowherd really criticized Baker Mayfield’s UFO sighting … just as a Twitter user predicted

If there’s one thing you can always count on when it comes to sports media, it’s that Colin Cowherd will find any reason to criticize Browns quarterback Baker Mayfield.

The Fox Sports personality has been going at Mayfield ever since his college days at Oklahoma. And no matter what Mayfield does, Cowherd will come up with a way to take a shot at the Browns quarterback.

It’s beyond parody at this point … really.

On Wednesday night, Mayfield tweeted that he and his wife had seen a UFO, which was a bit weird and inspired some jokes from NFL fans. One tweet in particular from Browns superfan McNeil mocked how Cowherd would have reacted to the Mayfield UFO sighting.

Well, uh, that tweet basically served as the script for the actual Cowherd reaction on Thursday. He really did criticize Mayfield over the UFO sighting as a quality he wouldn’t want in a franchise quarterback.

Cowherd said on Thursday:

“I would prefer of all the qualities of franchise quarterbacks, I want to know your arm. Are you good pre-snap? Are you mobile? The ability to see UFOs in the offseason is nowhere near my top-10 qualifications. Joe Montana, Troy Aikman, Terry Bradshaw, Tom Brady have never seen aliens.”

A film-room reference, and that would have been perfect.

Of course, there was a chance that Cowherd had seen McNeil’s tweet and wanted to troll everyone. But I’d like to believe that Cowherd sincerely meant what he said.
