Coles admits underpaying staff and sets aside $20m for repayments

Coles says all affected employees will be contacted.

Coles says it has underpaid staff in its supermarket and liquor stores and has set aside $20 million to pay back employees.

The company said it was reviewing arrangements for staff who were paid a salary under the award and had so far found about 5 per cent of supermarket and liquor managers were not paid correctly.

The Coles review goes back six years.

Chief executive Steven Cain has apologised to affected staff, who will be contacted once the review is finalised.

More to come.
