Coleraine next manager update as chairman Colin McKendry outlines club's plans

Coleraine chairman Colin McKendry says the club hopes to conduct interviews next week as it closes in on appointing a new manager.

The deadline for applications was last Thursday evening, with the club's board hoping to finalise a short-list over the coming days.

"The plan is for the board to meet to discuss the applications we have received, and then draw up a short-list," McKendry said.

"We hope to have the short-list finalised by the start of next week and then we will arrange interviews with those candidates.

"The aim would be to have interviews completed by the end of next week and then have the club in a position to announce our new manager the following week."

The club parted company with Rodney McAree on May 10, and since then a number of high-profile names have been linked with the post including former boss Oran Kearney and ex-Premier League midfielder George Boateng.

"We have had a lot of interest, from candidates all over the world," McKendry added.

"We know what we want as a club, and the things that are important to us as we look to the future.

"It is about getting the right candidate who can take Coleraine Football Club forward.

"We will start to see a clearer picture over the next week or so and then we will be in a position to make an appointment."

Coleraine could potentially look to within the club to make a new appointment, and McKendry insisted they were keeping "all options open" as they closed in on finding a successor to McAree.

At present William Murphy, Paul Owens and Trevor McKendry are assisting with first-team affairs, while the club also has the experienced John Gregg who looks after the Bannsiders' academy.

"We are not panicking into making an appointment," he added.

"We have experienced people there who are currently looking after first-team affairs. The players all know our pre-season plans and codes of conduct, so it is business as usual on that front.

"We also have players secured on contracts."
