Coleen Rooney shares special tribute to late sister Rosie on her birthday

Coleen Rooney posted a poignant tribute to her late sister Rosie McLoughlin on her birthday.

Rosie, who had Rett syndrome which is a rare brain disorder causing severe disabilities, died aged 14.

The mum, 34, marked the milestone which would have been her sister Rosie's 22nd birthday.

Accompanying her kind words, Coleen shared a personal photograph she loves of her sister with her fans.

In the snap, her sister Rosie posed with a cut-out cardboard version of the WAG herself which had a feather boa draped over it.

She wrote: "Happy heavenly birthday to our angel Rosie. Have the best day celebrating Ro. Love and miss you every day.

"Love this pic when you found my cardboard perfume cutout funny with your feather bower."

It's understood Coleen idolised her sister and they were incredibly close.

She elected Rosie as her chief bridesmaid in her wedding to Wayne Rooney in 2008.

Her mother Colette previously said of their bond: "Coleen idolises Rosie and Rosie idolises Coleen . . . when Coleen walks into the room Rosie’s eyes light up."

The WAG's parents Tony and Colette adopted Rosie aged two into their family.

It's been eight years since Rosie died.

At the time, Coleen and her younger brothers Joe and Anthony immediately cut their Barbados holiday short when Rosie's condition deteriorated.

Back then, her family issued the statement: "Sadly our special angel Rosie, our much-loved daughter and sister, went to Heaven at 2.50 this morning at home where she was surrounded by her loving family.

"Rosie was just 14 years old and fought a lifelong battle with Rett syndrome. Throughout her life she brought so much love and happiness to all our family and everyone who knew and met her.

"She was such a strong little girl and an inspiration to us all. We shall cherish for ever the memories we have shared and the love she showed us each and every day of her life. As a family we are heartbroken but we are blessed to have had her in our lives."
