Coleen Rooney's £1million deal for bombshell Wagatha Christie film about Rebekah Vardy

Coleen Rooney is set to sign a £1million deal to make an explosive film about her “Wagatha Christie” battle with Rebekah Vardy.

Coleen, 35, is being sued for libel by Rebekah, 39, after accusing her former friend of leaking stories from her private Instagram account to newspapers.

But Coleen wants to “let the public make their own minds up” and will present all her evidence against Rebekah in the documentary.

Filming could start in the New Year, before the libel trial in the High Court, which will start in the summer.

According to Coleen’s friends, she would be “front and centre” of the telly documentary.

Producers Lorton Entertainment, which is also making her husband Wayne’s documentary Rooney, are in “very advanced talks” over the film, which could be streamed on Netflix or Amazon.

Lorton Entertainment made the acclaimed Oasis documentary Supersonic, and After the Screaming Stops about Bros twins Matt and Luke Goss.

Coleen’s row with Rebekah, wife of Leicester striker Jamie, began in October 2019 when Coleen posted her accusations about leaks after a sting that earned her the Wagatha Christie tag.

A friend of Coleen told the Mirror: “Coleen has remained quiet ever since that famous online post. But this could all change in what could be the TV event of the year.

“Viewers would see all the evidence that Coleen has forensically gathered via her online sleuthing and see why she is convinced that Rebekah leaked the stories about her and others. She is minded to get it all out into the pubic domain and let people make their own minds up. Talks are very well advanced.”

The TV deal would mark a dramatic change of strategy by Coleen, who usually shuns the limelight.

The friend said: “Coleen is thinking long and hard about her next steps and the time could be right to stick her head above the parapet.

“She feels she has a very strong case and wants to share it with the world.”

The libel case could cost the loser millions. Coleen’s lawyers say her legal bill will be £537,000, while Rebekah’s is estimated to be £838,000.

A friend of Coleen said that any TV move would “undoubtedly” be seen as a “hostile act” by Rebekah’s camp ahead of the trial.

The pal said: “There is no doubt that Coleen is upping the stakes and then some, and it will be interesting to see how Rebekah reacts. But Coleen is on a mission and is passionate about what she believes in.”

The judge in the libel battle has repeatedly urged both women to come to a resolution to avoid a full-blown court case. But both are refusing to back down and the trial next summer is set to run over several days.

It’s not clear whether the film will be shown before, during or after the case.

Coleen showed her new-found willingness to get in front of the camera in a trailer for Lorton’s documentary Rooney, to be shown on Amazon Prime.

In the clip, she acknowledged problems in her marriage to the former England and Manchester United ace, who has been accused of infidelity and drinking.

She said: “I forgive him, but it wasn’t acceptable.”

A spokesman for Coleen Rooney could not be reached for comment.
