Coleen Rooney and Rebekah Vardy to have 'last chance meeting'

Coleen Rooney and Rebekah Vardy reportedly have a last chance to sort their libel fight in mediation before "the gloves come off" in a court battle.

Rebekah, 38, is suing Coleen for libel over the post last year in which Coleen claimed the WAG's Instagram account was behind a number of stories which had appeared in the papers.

Jamie Vardy's wife has always vehemently denied being involved in the leaking of stories from Coleen's page - reports Mirror Online.

The case has gone to London's High Court, and in a hearing late last year the pair were given a stay until February 8 in a bid to "finally attempt to resolve" the case.

But there are just two weeks left before the deadline - and time is running out.

A source has told New! magazine this is the final chance to stop the case heading to trial.

They said: "Both Coleen and Rebekah want to mediate and get it sorted.

"It's been on both their shoulders for so long, and it's a strain...

"It's a dark cloud lingering over them. But Coleen feels this could be the last chance to resolve things.

"If this mediation doesn't work, it looks like the gloves are off."

The source went on to add: "There's a fear neither of them will ever give in."

In 2019, Coleen accused Rebekah's account of being behind stories that were leaked from her private Instagram page - earning her the nickname Wagatha Christie for her online sleuthing.

Rebekah denied she was behind the leaks and sued for libel in a bid to clear her name.

Wayne Rooney's wife had set up her own sting operation to catch whoever had been passing on information from her private page to the press.

She said she posted a series of fake stories, blocked all her followers apart from Rebekah's account and then discovered the hoax posts made their way into the papers.

Rebekah denied she was behind the leaks, insisting a number of people had access to her Instagram page.

After the post in October 2019, Rebekah released a statement to strenuously deny she was behind the leak.

She wrote: "I wish you had called me if you thought this.

"I never speak to anyone about you as various journalists who have asked me to over the years can vouch for.

"I'm not being funny but I don't need the money, what would I gain from selling stories on you?...

"I liked you a lot Coleen & I'm so upset that you have chosen to do this."
