Coleen Nolan's weight loss secret after sister's cancer battle spurred diet overhaul

Coleen Nolan has revealed her weight loss was spurred on by her sister's cancer battle.

The Loose Women star, 56, wowed fellow panellists Ruth Langsford, Janet Street Porter and Brenda Edwards with her weight loss as she returned to the ITV studios for the first time since the coronavirus pandemic.

Crediting her new vegan diet for the change, the Nolan Sisters singer said she also overhauled her eating habits after her siblings Linda and Anne were rediagnosed with cancer.

Anne has been given the all-clear following treatment for the illness, Linda has sadly been living with incurable cancer, The Mirror reports.

Coleen said the weight has been falling off her since she started the diet spurred on by her sister's cancer battle - and said she was feeling the best she's felt in years.

She told the panel: "Never weighed myself. The weight comes off. What I'm bothered about is I feel so much better.

"Yeah best I've felt for years. Main reason for doing it is as you know my sister [Linda] has been re-diagnosed with cancer.

"I've got to do this now."

Janet had no qualms pointing out that her vegan lifestyle wouldn't necessarily protect her from cancer.

Coleen fired back: "That's not for me to say, I would suggest that you watch the programmes."

The Loose Women star admitted she initially missed dairy and chocolate in her diet, but now she's got used to it.

She said: "Some of it I don't. I just can't. I'm a real love my dairy and chocolate. I've got used to it. I've changed my taste buds. Now I'm eating to live rather than eating to live."

Her co-stars were gushing over how "fantastic" she was looking on her return.

Brenda confessed she almost didn't recognise the star to begin with because of her weight loss.

The Loose Women panel have penned in to interview Richard Bacon about his new life in Los Angeles.
