Coleen Nolan phoned ex Ray after fearing he would be offended over reason for divorce

Coleen Nolan has revealed she phoned her ex Ray Fensome after giving her official reasons for divorcing him as she feared he would be offended.

The Loose Women star, 54, married guitarist Ray in 2007 and they have one child, Ciara, together.

However the pair called time on their relationship in 2018 after what she described as a "hellish year".

Coleen, who has said that they are still friends after their separation, spoke about the lengths they had to go through to get their divorce.

This comes after the panel were speaking about the divorce law reforms which are set to end the "blame game" between couples.

"We'd both agreed that the marriage has run its course, we were still friends, let's just do it as nicely as possible," Coleen said. "And you have to give your reasons as to why you want to divorce.

"I was saying to my solicitor 'We haven't really got a reason, we're just not getting on and we've fallen out of love.'

"But you have to give a reason so it's literally like going, 'I'll have that one'. But that wasn't it, then you had to give five reasons. So it wasn't just saying 'irreconcilable differences', you had to give five differences.

"So in the end I'm kind of making them up and then I'm phoning Ray up going, 'Listen, you're going to get this through the post because they have to send it to him on what I'm divorcing him on, and 'Please don't take offense to it because I had to do it otherwise we can't move forward."
