Coleen Nolan caught female catfish after spotting strange reflection in pal's picture

Coleen Nolan revealed to the Loose Women panel that she once uncovered a female catfish that had been speaking to her close pal.

The 56-year-old television star had joined panelists Janet Steet-Porter, Ruth Langsford, and Gloria Hunniford on Wednesday's show when they turned to the question of catfishing.

The term, made popular by the MTV show Catfish, is normally used to refer to a person that has established a fake profile and a fictional persona usually a trick someone.

During the show, Coleen explained to the panel that she was very 'savvy' when it came to spotting a catfish after her friend had a run-in with one some years earlier.

"She'd been online dating and she was really desperate to meet somebody and she started talking to this guy... He was a teacher, he was 35, just gorgeous.

Coleen added: "She was talking to him all day, the last person she'd speak to at night and the first in the morning."

However, the television star then revealed that once her friend agreed to meet this person, they would cancel at the last minute. This happened three times before Coleen became suspicious.

When the pair challenged the online profile about whether they were real, the catfish then sent a picture of a bottle of perfume that they had purchased as a gift alongside a note.

The note read: "Why would I buy you a bottle of perfume if I had no intention of meeting you?!? Why Claire?"

However, Coleen and her friend Claire were stunned to notice that the reflection in the bottle of perfume was actually that of a woman.

Coleen added: "It was a catfish and it wasn't even a male, it was a female!"

The presenters then added that they had blurred out the image of the person in question.

The Loose Women discussion came shortly before MTV's Catfish UK series made its debut on Wednesday night. During the show, presenters Julie and Oobah helped a host of lovelorn guests who are trying to meet their online contacts.
