A pair of undefeated bantamweight prospects are set to square off in Vancouver.
Cole Smith (6-0 MMA, 1-0 UFC) will take on Dana White’s Contender Series 18 winner Miles Johns (9-0 MMA) at UFC on ESPN+ 16. A person with knowledge of the situation confirmed the news to MMA Junkie following an initial report from FloCombat on Tuesday.
UFC on ESPN+ 16 takes place Sept. 14 at the Rogers Arena in Vancouver. The entire card will stream on ESPN+.
A Vancouver native, Smith will get to compete in front of his hometown. The undefeated Canadian successfully made his UFC debut at UFC on ESPN+ 9 when he defeated veteran Mitch Gagnon via unanimous decision.
Johns received a UFC contract last month at DWCS 18 after a dominant performance over Richie Santiago. The 25-year-old Fortis MMA fighter was looking for a quick turnaround and gets his wish.
