Cole Palmer dedicated Manchester City's win over Marseille to former academy teammate Jeremy Wisten, who tragically died last week.
Wisten was part of the youth set-up at the club for a number of years after joining in 2016 and was a popular figure in the academy, with tributes coming this weekend from senior players including Vincent Kompany and Raheem Sterling as well as those that had played in the same teams as him such as Palmer.
Speaking to the MEN, Wisten's parents Manila and Grace expressed their shock and sadness about "a very happy boy who was taken away too soon" and a son that will always be loved and missed.
Palmer travelled with City's matchday squad to Marseille on Monday for a Champions League clash, and the 18-year-old came on for Kevin De Bruyne in the final ten minutes of the 3-0 win on Tuesday to make his debut in the competition as he continues to impress under Pep Guardiola.
After the game, Palmer posted a picture of himself in action with a caption reading: "Buzzing to have made my Champions League debut and get three points. That was for you Jez, fly high brother."
A host of City players past and present responded to the post to add their appreciation and sympathy.
