Cole Kmet on Aaron Rodgers saying he owns Bears: ‘He’s not totally wrong’

Growing up a Bears fans, tight end Cole Kmet understands the significance of the Bears-Packers rivalry — especially it being a one-sided rivalry where Green Bay has dominated Chicago over the last decade.

One of the biggest headlines from Week 6 was Packers quarterback Aaron Rodgers’ message to the Bears and their fans at Soldier Field: “I still open you.”

While it’s garnered everything from praise to criticism around the league, the Bears have essentially brushed it off. Well, most of them.

When Kmet was asked about Rodgers’ comment about him owning the Bears, Kmet didn’t shy away from it. In fact, he admitted it’s true.

“Let’s face it, he’s not totally wrong,” Kmet said. “It’s on us to change that narrative moving forward.”

Rodgers is now 21-5 against the Bears, and Chicago has dropped to 3-20 against Green Bay dating back to 2011.

While Rodgers comments have rubbed the fanbase and some former players the wrong way, he isn’t wrong. And the only way to silence that is to change the narrative of the rivalry moving forward, as Kmet noted.

Granted, it should help that Rodgers will be moving on from the Packers at some point, be it after this season or within the next couple of years. But at the same time, the best way to start to get this rivalry back on the right track is to defeat Rodgers, which Chicago will have another chance later this season on the prime-time stage.
