Cole Beasley would be good free-agent fit for Redskins

The Washington Redskins need some help at wideout and an NFC East rival like the Dallas Cowboys might be able to help out.

Cole Beasley heads to free agency this offseason at the age of 29 and might be the perfect idea for a Redskins team needing some reliability from its receivers.

Beasley is certainly reliable considering he hasn’t missed more than one game in a season since 2013. Last year, he caught 65 of the 87 passes thrown his way for 672 yards and three touchdowns.

It doesn’t sound like much, but the Redskins didn’t get much out of free-agent add Paul Richardson a year ago. Josh Doctson still hasn’t blossomed. Intriguing prospects like Trey Quinn and Cam Sims, to name a few, aren’t sure things.

Beasley is the sort of player the Redskins need to help along a veteran who needs the help (Case Keenum) or a rookie.

He sounds ready to leave, too:

It will be interesting to see how much Beasley wants and if the Redskins are willing to pay him, of course. They don’t have the most cap flexibility.

But with Beasley, hurting an NFC East rival and providing a surefire boost to the wideout room is a win-win for the Redskins.
