Coldplay share never-before-seen first take of Yellow music video

Coldplay have delighted fans by releasing a previously unseen clip of one of their most iconic music videos.

Yellow, the British band’s first top-five hit, came out in 2000 and was later awarded a Brit Award for Song of the Year.

Its video, filmed at Studland Bay, Dorset, was shot entirely in slow motion and features frontman Chris Martin walking alone along the beach.

Posting on TikTok on Saturday night, the band shared a never-before-seen look at “take one” of the vid.

It shows Martin dressed in a red long-sleeved t-shirt, rather than the black mackintosh in which he appeared for the final release.

“There were loads of extras in this version,” they wrote in a caption to the clip. “But it rained all day so we sent them home at 4pm.”

“Chris grabbed the cameraman and said ‘let’s just walk down the beach’.”

The track appeared on the band’s 2000 debut album ‘Parachutes’, which celebrated its 20th anniversary on July 10.

Marking the landmark with a separate social media post, the band wrote: “Happy 20th birthday to Parachutes - the album which set us off on this amazing adventure.

“Thanks to all of you who have joined along the way.

“Feels like yesterday, in another lifetime,” they added.
