Coldplay have reportedly been working on a new album titled Music Of The Spheres

A source close to the group confirmed to The Sun that the band have been recording new music during the coronavirus lockdown, which will allegedly feature on the forthcoming album.

The source told the publication: “Chris and co have been dropping hints for a while but now it’s finally getting off the ground.

“They’ve been busy working on new music during lockdown and it’ll all culminate in the record, which has the working title Music Of The Spheres.”

NME reports that the album's name has officially been trademarked. The band’s members – Chris Martin, Jon Buckland, Guy Berryman and Will Champion – are listed as owners.

The Independent has contacted a representative for Coldplay for comment.

If the rumours are true, Music Of The Spheres will follow Coldplay’s 2019 record Everyday Life. You can read The Independent's three-star review of the album here, in which it is called: “A fascinating, occasionally brilliant curio.”

The band – behind hits such as “Yellow” and “Fix You” – was recently nominated for the coveted Album of the Year Grammy award. Everyday Life will be up against albums including Taylor Swift’s Folklore, Dua Lipa’s Future Nostalgia, Haim’s Women in Music Pt III and Jhené Aiko’s Chilombo.

The Recording Academy, however, has been criticised for not including K-Pop band BTS, Lady Gaga or The Weeknd in its selection.

The 2021 Grammy Awards ceremony will take place on 15 March.
