Coldplay paid tribute to their 'old friend' Darius Campbell Danesh on Wednesday evening following his sudden death.
On Tuesday, Darius' family released a statement saying that the Colourblind singer had been found dead aged 41 at his home on August 11. The statement read: "We ask that you kindly respect our wishes for privacy at this time whilst we come to terms with the tragic loss of our son and brother."
Tributes poured in from Darius' grieving friends and fans across the world who wanted to pay tribute to the Scottish singer and theatre star. Coldplay frontman Chris Martin paid tribute to the late singer during their latest performance of their Music of the Spheres world tour at Wembley Stadium.
Before ending their August 17 concert, Chris said: "We are going to send love from Wembley out to the world. We are going to send to Darius’ family – our old friend Darius – and to Ukraine," according to MailOnline. Confetti canons were then set off before the end of the show, with one concert-goer tweeting: ‘Loved Chris Martin giving a nod to Darius’s passing tonight at @coldplay.’
Coldplay's stint of Wembley shows for Music Of The Spheres World Tour will conclude on August 21 before playing two dates at Hampden in Glasgow. They will then continue on to play a leg of gigs in South America, from September until November 8.
Darius, who rose to fame on Pop Idol, was found dead in Rochester, Minnesota, on August 11 – although cause of his death remains unknown. The stars family could face further heartache as they may face an agonising two month wait to find out Darius's cause of death. His family are currently awaiting the results of a toxicology report which could take as long as eight weeks.
Fans were quick to notice it was unusual for Darius to be living in Minnesota and clocked that his apartment was in close proximity to the Mayo Clinic’s 1,265-bed Saint Marys Campus. To add more to the mystery, it has now been reported that Darius used Gerard Butler's girlfriends name to book the room where he was found dead.
