Cold weather set to continue after sub-zero temperatures leave Merseyside covered in frost

Cold weather is set to continue across our region for at least a few more days after temperatures dropped well below freezing last night.

According to Met Office records, the temperature in Liverpool dropped to just below -2C last night, with many across the city waking up to a hard frost this morning.

More rural areas were even colder, and while it's unlikely that it will be as cold again this evening another cold night is being predicted.

Forecasters reckon temperatures will drop to around freezing this evening, having not got above 4C during the day, and the Met Office weather forecast shows the cold is set to continue for at least a few more days before milder weather arrives during the second half of next week.

What are UK weather warnings and what do they mean?

Monday and Tuesday are not set to get any warmer than 7C, though the nights are milder than they have been this weekend.

And warmer weather is currently forecast to move in towards the end of the week.

Importantly for most people, it's set to stay dry, with no wet weather predicted over the next few days.

Here is the weather forecast for Liverpool for the coming week.
