The Government's Cold Weather Payments have been triggered in some areas of the UK.
A yellow weather warning for snow and ice is currently in place across the country and with temperatures plummeting people are being urged to check whether they are in line for extra cash payments to support them through the cold spell.
Despite temperatures plummeting in Merseyside, no local postcodes make the list as yet - however we will continue to monitor the situation and provide an update as soon as payments locally are triggered.

You’ll get a payment if the average temperature in your area is recorded as, or forecast to be, zero degrees celsius or below over seven consecutive days.
You get £25 for each seven day period of very cold weather between November 1 and March 31.
After each period of very cold weather in your area, you should get a payment within 14 working days.
