'Cold Hands Bandit' and accomplice have robbed 15 banks since November, authorities say

March 16--The Los Angeles County Sheriff's Department and the FBI have joined forces to turn up the heat on the so-called Cold Hands Bandit and his right-hand man, a pair of bank robbers who have hit at least 15 banks in L.A. County in four months, authorities said.

In a statement Tuesday, the sheriff's department announced that it had linked a November 2015 bank heist in Rosemead -- where a "pair of brazen bank robbers" passed a note to a teller that promised violence if their demands weren't met -- to a series of similar incidents throughout the county.

One of the men is called the Cold Hands Bandit because of his proclivity to wear gloves, officials said. He and his partner, who has not acquired a nickname, have been seen fleeing in a silver Dodge Charger, authorities said.

The Rosemead robbery was the first, followed by one in Cerritos about a week later, officials said. They robbed two banks on Nov. 28, two on Dec. 8, and six more between Feb. 4 and March 2, according to the sheriff's department.

All the robberies have taken place between about 11 a.m. and 4:15 p.m.

Bank of the West is offering a $5,000 reward for information leading to the men's capture and conviction.

Anyone with information is asked to call the Sheriff's Department's Major Crimes Bureau at (562) 946-7893.
