A man charged over the cold case murder of Martin Craig Meffert more than a decade ago in South Australia's mid-north has been remanded in custody after a brief court appearance.
A 30-year-old man is accused of killing the 23-year-old in 2005.
Mr Meffert was last seen on February 8, 2005 when he got on a bus to travel from Adelaide to Terowie.
The accused has been in custody at Port Pirie Police Station since his arrest on Friday.
His lawyer John Voumard told the court he had only recently taken on the case and needed time to get instructions from his client and make enquiries.
Police prosecutor Lorne Matthews said he also wanted the hearing adjourned to discuss the bail addresses which had been suggested.
"The appropriateness of certain bail addresses that my friend is nominating is subject to some debate," he said.
Magistrate Rodney Oates remanded the man in custody to face court again on Thursday, at which time a bail application will likely be made.
Investigation into cash withdrawn from account
On Friday, Major Crime investigation branch Detective Superintendent Des Bray said some of Mr Meffert's remains were found in a fireplace at the man's home in 2013.
He said after Mr Meffert's death, $136,000 in disability pension money was withdrawn from his bank account.
Police have interviewed another man and a woman in connection with the alleged theft but charges are yet to be laid.
Police released CCTV vision of a man wearing a black jacket taking money from an ATM.
Superintendent Bray said they hoped someone would recognise the man.
A $200,000 reward is available for information leading to a murder conviction and finding the rest of Mr Meffert's remains.
Superintendent Bray said it was "very important for his [Mr Meffert's] family".
Police have searched several locations near Terowie, but with no success.
