It may be spring but Canberra's set for a wintry weekend.
Parts of the Brindabellas could even get snow.
A maximum temperature of 11 degrees is forecast in Canberra for Saturday and 14 degrees for Sunday.
Temperatures could even reach below zero in the early hours of Sunday morning.
It came after a chilly and wet Friday where the temperature at Canberra Airport only reached a top of 10 degrees on Friday morning before it plummeted to five degrees by the afternoon.
The icy blast came as a cold front passed through the east coast, the Bureau of Meteorology said.
"A strong cold front is passing through western and southern parts of NSW and it will continue into the far north-eastern districts on Saturday," BOM meteorologist Alex Majchrowski said.
"That's going to result in some windy and significantly cooler conditions."
But while Canberra had rain on Friday, the weekend was expected to be far more dry.
"After the system has passed through it's a pretty dry air mass, so we shouldn't see too much in the way of shower activity after Friday," Mr Majchrowski said.
The cold front was expected to drop snow down to 700 metres in southern parts of the state. Up to 40cm could fall in the alpine area.
More than 20cm of snow fell at Perisher on Friday, Mr Majchrowski said.
Parts of Canberra could see snow falls above 1000 metres and snow could fall in the Southern Tablelands in areas above 700 metres south-east of Goulburn from Friday evening and into Saturday.
