Colby Covington takes shot at Kamaru Usman's "jailbird" father ahead of UFC 268 clash

Colby Covington has taken a shot UFC rival Kamaru Usman's "jailbird" father who spent 10 years in a Texas prison.

Usman will make the fifth defence of his UFC welterweight title when he fights Covington for the second time at UFC 268 on Saturday night.

His father Muhammad was charged with multiple counts of health care fraud in 2010, resulting in a 15-year prison sentence and restitution of $1.3million.

He was released from prison earlier this year and was able to watch Usman compete for the first time at UFC 261 when he knocked out Jorge Masvidal.

And Covington took a shot at the criminal history of Usman's father at the UFC 268 pre-fight press conference.

"Hey Marty is your daddy the jailbird coming on Saturday night? I've got a hook up with law enforcement if you want me to call his parole officer, I can make sure he can come on Saturday night," he said.

"Scam artist, man. I feel so bad for Mrs Usman. Think about that, she's got a cheating a** son and a scammer a** husband. That must be s***** in that household."

Covington has boasted about visiting former US President Donald Trump in the past and also claimed members of Trump's family will be in attendance at UFC 268.

He mocked New York Mayor Bill de Blasio and likened Usman to current President Joe Biden.

"The thing to do in New York city is throw trash on de Blasio's lawn. Saturday night, I'm going to throw this trash on de Blasio's lawn," Covington continued.

"When Marty gets locked in that cage with me Saturday night, he's gonna be s****** in his pants like his name's Joe Biden, hashtag poopgate."

The American earned himself another shot at Usman after defeating rival Tyron Woodley last September.

Usman has defended his belt against Gilbert Burns and twice against Jorge Masvidal since stopping Covington in 2019.

And Covington claimed Usman turned down a rematch to pursue a fight against fan favourite Nate Diaz.

"He aborted this rematch at all costs. Uncle Dana and the UFC had to force his hand. He was trying to fight other lightweights," he continued.

"He was trying to fight Nate Diaz. He was trying to fight anybody but this rematch, he knows who daddy is. He knows who really won that fight.

"If he didn't fake time-outs the first fight I would have destroyed him. It's ok, I'm back better late than never. I don't live in the past and Saturday night, I'm smashing Marty 'Fakenewsman'.
