The Canberra Times was featured on The Late Show with Stephen Colbert this week thanks to a big ass.
The American comic drew attention to the story, by Australian Community Media journalist Jamieson Murphy, about an American Mammoth Donkey which had been imported directly to Australia,for the first in 20 years.
The item was included in Colbert's Quarantinewhile segment, which is all about funny news stories. (The segment used to be called Meanwhile, but has since been given a coronavirus flavour during the pandemic.)
Colbert was obviously taken with the headline that accompanied the article: "Giant American ass clears biosecurity and touches down in Australia".
"What? I've never been to Australia ... Oh! I see that is a big ass," Colbert told his viewers.
"Though, of course, experts in its field use the scientific designation, the badonkey donk."
Boom, tish. Maybe you had to be there.
