Coláiste Feirste students praised for their honesty after finding £200

A group of West Belfast students have been hailed for their honesty after handing in money they found on a café floor.

The Coláiste Feirste pupils were in The Little Mill Bistro on Conway Street yesterday when they discovered £200 cash under their table.

And after handing the money over to management, the lost money was returned to the owner.

In a Facebook post, The Little Mill Bistro said: "These kids came in for lunch the day in the shop and attend the Irish School. They found two hundred pound of money under the table which had been left behind and they handed it into the staff.

"The people who owned the money came and collected it. They want to thank them for there honestly and their school should be very proud of the type of children they have. And of course they were very shy in getting their photos taken."

The owner of the money told Belfast Live that "it goes to show there are good people out there".

He said: "Me and Caitlin were out for lunch yesterday and had left behind some money. These two wee legends handed it into the staff it shows you some kids are brought up with respect and honesty, fair play to them and thank you.

"I’ve left some money in The Little Mill Bistro for them all to get their lunch. Fair play to them all for their honesty. It’s not much but it’s the least I could do for them.

"It just goes to show there is good people out there. We could of been not so lucky and someone could of pocketed it - they do deserve recognition."

Coláiste Feirste shared the act of generosity on their Facebook saying: "Senior pupils showing leadership in the community. Well done. #Heroes"
