'Coincidence?' - Some Arsenal fans saying the same thing about Mikel Arteta and Manchester City

Manchester City are starting life without Mikel Arteta this evening after the Spaniard left the Premier League champions to join Arsenal as the Gunners' new head coach.

Arteta left his role as Manchester City assistant earlier this week to become the permanent successor to Unai Emery at Arsenal , with the Spaniard moving into top level management for the first time after three years working with Pep Guardiola at the Etihad Stadium.

Arteta was in the stands at Goodison Park this afternoon as Arsenal drew 0-0 with Everton in the Premier League, but now his former side are in action at the Etihad Stadium against Leicester City.

But City fell behind early on against Brendan Rodgers' side, with Jamie Vardy opening the scoring for the Foxes.

His strike got some fans talking after Arteta's move to Arsenal, with City looking to try and close the gap on Premier League leaders Liverpool, who are not in domestic action this weekend.

And although City equalised shortly after Vardy's goal, with former Leicester City man Riyad Mahrez scoring against his old side to make it 1-1, some fans have been saying the same thing about Manchester City and Arteta, as can be seen below.

Ahead of kick off at the Etihad Stadium, Arteta's new side were 12 points behind City, who currently sit third in the Premier League table.

A win for City would move them to within one point of the Foxes and 11 points of the league leaders Liverpool, who are involved in the final of the Club World Championships.
