Reservations to buy commemorative coins and medals minted to mark His Majesty King Maha Vajiralongkorn's coronation will be open from March 4 to April 4.
The Finance Ministry has no plans to mint additional commemorative coins and medals in the event of later demand, said Finance Minister Apisak Tantivorawong.
The coins are made of gold, silver or cupronickel. The medals consist of platinum, silver and copper.
The commemorative gold coins have a face value of 19,000 baht and will be sold at 40,000 baht each. The silver coins with a face value of 1,000 baht are priced at 3,000 baht, and cupronickel coins are priced at their face value of 20 baht.
All coins are made to order with a maximum production of 50,000 for the gold type, 100,000 for silver and 5 million for cupronickel.
The platinum medals are the most expensive at 1 million baht, a record price since the Treasury Department began minting coins and medals. The platinum medals' production is capped at 1,000 units.
Polished silver medals will be sold at 5,000 baht each, while copper medals are priced at 3,000 baht. Their production volume is capped at 100,000 units each.
Plain silver medals with a ribbon band will be priced at 1,600 baht each and limited to a mint of 500,000 units.
The coronation is scheduled for May 4-6.
Amnuay Preemonwong, director-general of the Treasury Department, said Krungthai Bank, Thailand Post and Counter Service will act as reservation points and distribute the commemorative coins and medals, except for medals with a ribbon band, which can be reserved exclusively at the Treasury Department.
The coins and medals will be distributed starting June 1.
