Cohen Bramall primed for Daniel James battle after leading Arsenal sprint stats

Colchester United's speedy star Cohen Bramall is relishing the prospect of facing Manchester United's pace man Daniel James on Wednesday night.

Bramall and his fellow League Two giant-killers face the Red Devils in a mouthwatering Carabao Cup quarter-final clash.

The defender, who spent two years at Arsenal after impressing in non-League football, is finally enjoying a run of first-team football, having joined Colchester this season following his release by the Gunners.

It was at the Emirates where he topped the speed tests, even outpacing first-team superstars including Hector Bellerin, Pierre-Emerick Aubameyang and Theo Walcott.

His maximum speed of 11.2 metres per second would easily see him among the quickest in the Premier League - and he is excited about going toe-to-toe with James, widely regarded as one of the fastest in the top flight.

Asked by the The Daily Mail if he would back himself against James, he replied: "Dan James? Yeah, 100 per cent. I want to go against a strong United team. If Dan James plays then sweet.

"I'm happy to play against him and have a little running race down the wing just to show people what I can do and what I've still got."

Bramall left Arsenal without making a first-team league appearance but he takes positives from his spell, namely being the fastest ahead of big-name players.

The defender, who was also quickest in the 30-metre sprint with a time of 3.67 seconds, added: "I don't think anyone has topped that at Arsenal to this day.

"Put it this way, I asked Bellerin for a race and he didn't race me.

"I think everyone knows what my attribute is and that's just to run fast. I can get up and down the pitch the most in any team. I'm explosive and that will always catch people's eye."
