Coffee giant Starbucks is to open a new drive-thru cafe tomorrow in a Northumberland retail park.

The outlet, which has created 20 new jobs, is to be officially opened at Willowburn Retail Park, Alnwick, on Thursday.

The new drive-thru store offers comfortable seating and free wi-fi to welcome customers to relax in-store while enjoying a cup of coffee.

The new store is likely to be a hit with those who enjoy a beverage on the go with the store's eagerly anticipated drive-thru lane.

Staff will be handing out free reusable cups for the first 50 customers and treat a friend vouchers for a free drink.

There will be coffee samplings held throughout the day, while customers are invited to sample food and drinks, including the new toasted marshmallow hot chocolate from the new holiday menu.

Victoria Madison, store manager, said: "We are very excited to join the Alnwick community and look forward to meeting and serving customers.

"We are proud to support HospiceCare North Northumberland, which is a charity close to our hearts and is the main provider of free palliative care in North Northumberland."

The store is to host a ribbon-cutting ceremony on Thursday which will be attended by the Duchess of Northumberland Jane Percy, mayor of Alnwick Lynda Wearn, chairperson of the Alnwick Chamber of Trade Lisa Aynsley and representatives from HospiceCare North Northumberland.

Members of the public are invited to celebrate tomorrow's opening from 3.45pm.
