Coffee Club heads to Vietnam

SET-listed Minor International Plc announced yesterday it has entered into a joint venture agreement with Vietnam Investments Group (VI Group) to operate as the master franchisee of The Coffee Club brand in Vietnam.

The partnership shows Minor's commitment to the potential of Vietnam, the company said in a statement. The initial plan is to open 100 The Coffee Club outlets in Vietnam over the next five years.

VI Group has been an exclusive franchisee of The Pizza Company and Swensen's since 2015. The Coffee Club is the latest addition to its restaurant portfolio, which includes more than 10 restaurant brands with over 120 restaurants in Vietnam.

Minor entered Vietnam in 1995 with a joint venture for a hotel in Hai Phong. In 2009, the company set its restaurant footprint with the launch of The Pizza Company, Swensen's and Thai Express.

Minor has 83 restaurant outlets across the three brands and operates four hotels in four different cities in Vietnam.

"With a flourishing coffee market and favourable global trends, we are very optimistic about the opportunity to strengthen our presence in Vietnam and grow The Coffee Club brand nationwide," said Paul Kenny, chief executive of Minor Food.
