The sky is the limit in Call of Duty's newest Zombies map coming in season one, and a new trailer has revealed just how high that sky actually is. Welcome back to outer space.
Black Ops 7 brings back CoD to space with Astra Malorum, the new Zombies experience releasing alongside season one, and the map's intro cinematic shows the pure mayhem of both Zombies crews using their powered-up Ol' Tessie truck to fly through space for their next undead-slaying adventure.
After the events of Ashes of the Damned, the Zombies team somehow ends up careening through space in Ol' Tessie, using the truck's jet engine to navigate through an asteroid field as all sorts of dark aether monsters chase them in the fun cinematic set to "Kickstart My Heart" by Mötley Crüe. As the team arrives, we can see what looks like Saturn in the background of the new locale, which seems to be some sort of planetarium that somehow ended up floating in space.
CoD in space does not have the best reputation, necessarily, especially after 2016's Infinite Warfare, which is widely considered to be one of the worst games in the franchise. But when it comes to zombies, everything is fair game, and BO7's storyline looks to further lean into the wildness that it is capable of.
It's anyone's guess where the whacky plotline will go next, but a new round-based map less than a month after BO7 launched will be welcomed by all players, especially considering it's part of the free content update for season one. I'm not the most dedicated Zombies player anymore, but back in my day (can you hear my bones creaking?), maps used to be part of paid DLC, so I think this is a win for the gamers out there.
Season one of BO7 does not have an official release date yet, but all signs point to it coming out on Dec. 4, which is now less than two weeks away.
