Cocky Piers Morgan booed by thousands after taunting rival fans at Soccer Aid

He doesn't usually need to give people a reason to give him stick.

But even Piers Morgan would be the first to admit he probably deserved all the abuse that came his way on Sunday night.

The Good Morning Britain host was appointed as Harry Redknapp's right-hand man at Soccer Aid 2019.

The Rest of the World coach is a huge Arsenal fan - and with the special charity game being held at Chelsea's Stamford Bridge, there was always a chance of words being exchanged.

But the presenter clearly didn't think enough grief was coming his way.

After being interviewed by Dermot O'Leary over the Stamford Bridge stadium's public address system, the Gunners-mad 54-year-old decided to serenade the west London fans with an Arsenal chant.

He grabbed the mic and asked the Chelsea fans if they would enjoy "a little sing song".

He belted out: "Given we're are Stamford Bridge. And it's Arsenal... Arsenal FC... we're by far the greatest team the world has ever seen."

Unsurprisingly, his tune went down like a lead balloon at the home of one of their big rivals.

Thousands gave him what for as they booed Piers as he sat down for a chat.

He later tweeted: "I think the Chelsea crowd really enjoyed my Arsenal chant," when Blues fans reminded him of their Europa League hammering last month.

Kem Cetinay scored a late equaliser to ensure Soccer Aid was decided by a penalty shootout for the second successive year as Rest of the World won on spot kicks.

The Love Island star produced a moment of magic to cut inside John Terry and curl a shot past David Harewood in the England goal to pull ROW level with minutes of normal time remaining.

ROW goalkeeper Nicky Byrne then saved the decisive kick from comedian Lee Mack in the shootout to confirm victory for his side.

The Westlife singer had already denied Body Coach Joe Wicks in the shootout, before Mark Wright sent his penalty wide.

England let a two-goal lead slip, after taking a commanding position thanks to a Jeremy Lynch brace in the first half.
