Cockapoos named as Scotland's 'most spoiled' dog breed

New research has just revealed Scotland's most spoiled dog breeds with Cockapoos topping the list.

The data uncovered by top pet brand Yappy.com found that the crossbreed (a mix of a Cocker Spaniel and a Poodle) came out as Scotland's most pampered pet, with Springer Spaniels and Pugs in second and third place.

Following a boom in pooch purchases over the last year, with over 3.2 million people in the UK all becoming puppy owners, the personalised pet gift specialists looked at over 300 popular breeds and over 5000 individual pet profiles to identify the most lavished upon pups from all across Scotland.

Whilst Cockapoos are overall the most pampered pooch in Scotland, the breed varies by city.

The data reveals that Irish Doodles are the most spoiled breed in Edinburgh, whereas it's Zuchons (a cross between a Bichon Frise and a Shih Tzu) that are being pampered by their Glaswegian owners.

Overall, it's the lively Springer Spaniels that are the second most spoiled breed, with Scottish owners spending heaps on toys and treats for their furry friends.

Extremely playful with cheery personalities and are incredibly generous with kisses and cuddles, the Yappy.com team say it's no wonder they find themselves living the life of luxury.

Pugs take bronze as the third most-spoiled dog, with the Yappy.com team stating that these silky-coated pups are ideal for owners with allergies.

Easy to train, they have an adoring personality and are much-loved by celebrities too, with famous names from Paris Hilton to Gerard Butler being proud owners.

Whilst it’s no surprise to see popular breeds like the Beagle, Pug and Cockapoo in the overall top 10 list, the data shows that other much-loved breeds such as Shetland Sheepdogs, Greyhounds and Shih Tzu's all placed in the bottom 10 of the Scotland’s most indulged dogs.

John Smith, founder of Yappy.com, said: “Every dog deserves to be spoiled and enjoy the ‘ulti-mutt‘ best life possible and our findings show which cities and regions are doing the most treating and which breeds are the most likely to be indulged.

"Following the explosion of new dog owners during the past year, we're seeing owners wanting to spoil their pets more than ever and are treating their fur babies as human members of the family."
