Cocaine, cannabis and knives found in latest crime crackdown

Suspected cocaine, cannabis and knives have been discovered in the latest crackdown as part of Operation Pelican.

The operation, launched by Merseyside Police, has set out to target the supply of drugs across Sefton.

Yesterday saw a large amount of cannabis recovered after police executed a warrant for a flat in Maghull.

Officers responded to community concerns following a strong smell of cannabis.

They located a "large amount" of cannabis as well as cash and drug paraphernalia.

Today, officers also seized half a kilogram of suspected cocaine along with a large amount of cannabis and a number of weapons including a selection of knives from a property in Waterloo.

Police have confirmed that investigations are ongoing to locate those responsible.

Sefton Police took to Facebook to share the news about the findings.

One post said: "Operation Pelican Officers yesterday seized a large amount of cannabis from a flat in the Maghull area

"Officers responded to community concerns over a strong smell of cannabis. Officers have entered a property and located a large amount of cannabis along with cash and drug paraphernalia.

"Officers from South Sefton Community Team later assisted in executing a warrant on the address and seizing the drugs.

"Investigations are ongoing to locate those responsible."

"The second post said: "Operation Pelican have this morning executed a warrant in the Waterloo area.

"During their search they have recovered approximately half a kilo of suspected Cocaine and a large amount of cannabis. Also seized were numerous weapons which will now be destroyed and taken off the streets

"Investigations are ongoing to identify those responsible."
