Coca Cola confirms the Christmas truck tour is cancelled this year

It's a Christmas highlight for many festive-lovers, but this year the Coca-Cola truck will not be travelling around the UK distributing joy and tiny cans of drink.

The company announced the news on its Twitter page this morning and cited the current four-week lockdown in England as the reason.

It wrote: "Due to current restrictions around the country, our Coca-Cola Christmas Truck Tour won’t go ahead this year. We know it's disappointing, but we’ll continue to share special Christmas moments throughout the festive season. We look forward to seeing you next year!"

It will sure to be a disappointment to thousands who love to visit and have a picture by the truck, which usually stops in Cardiff and Swansea as well as a number of other Welsh locations.

Fans of the Coca-Cola truck shared their disappointment on Twitter, saying: "First brexit, then covid and now the coke lorry has been cancelled. That's it, I'm giving up and finding some desert island to hide on."

While another said: "Such a shame but totally understandable can’t wait to see the advert on tv xx"

The Coca-Cola truck tour is just one of the Christmas events not happening in 2020 due to the coronavirus pandemic. Other cancelled events include pantomimes, Santa grottos and festive parades.
