Coatbridge woman convicted of assault and robbery

A COATBRIDGE woman has been placed under supervision after being convicted of assault and robbery.

Karen Blair, 35, of Swinton Crescent, committed a series of offences in June 2017.

Airdrie Sheriff Court heard last week how she assaulted a woman in a house in Langloan Place, Coatbridge, by pushing a door against her, pushing her and repeatedly punching her about the head.

She demanded money from her and robbed her of a television set.

Blair, on the same day, at a house in Mossneuk Street, Coatbridge, behaved in a threatening or abusive manner likely to cause a person to suffer fear or alarm.

During a call from the house to a woman she demanded money. She was shouting and swearing and threatened her with violence.

Blair then attacked the same woman in Mossneuk Street by tripping her and causing her to fall down a flight of stairs.

She then pulled her by the hair and repeatedly punched and kicked her on the head and body.

Sheriff Fergus Thomson told Blair: “You have made good progress since being put on a community payback order.”

The sheriff revoked the order and put her on a new community payback order, including 12 months of supervision.
