Coatbridge woman caught with hammer avoids jail but tagged to home

A Coatbridge woman who was alarmingly caught in possession of a hammer on Cumbrae Crescent has been tagged for her foolish behaviour.

Jade McCracken, 24, will now spend weekends confined to her home – also on Cumbrae Crescent – for the next two months following the “very serious” offence in April.

Addressing McCracken’s solicitor at Airdrie Sheriff Court last week, a concerned Sheriff Frank Pieri said: “I believe she [McCracken] is engaging well with her supervision, but she pled guilty to a very serious offence.

“A restriction of liberty is the disposal that jumps out at me.”

Turning his attention to McCracken, Sheriff Pieri continued: “Taking everything in this report into account, I still have to deal with this as a very serious matter.

“You’ll be tagged for two months and must stay in your home between the hours of 7pm to 7am on Fridays, Saturdays and Sundays.”
