Coatbridge snack van deliberately set on fire as police launch probe

Police are appealing for information after a snack van was deliberately set alight in Coatbridge earlier this week.

The incident happened in an industrial estate on Brown Street around 11.30 pm on Monday night (March 1).

As part of their investigation into the incident officers are searching for two suspects, described as wearing dark clothing, who were seen at the van as it caught fire.

The pair ran off from Brown Street onto Dundyvan Road.

Police say the van was extensively damaged with the cost to replace it running into thousands of pounds.

Detective Constable Scott McCracken, Coatbridge CID, said:"From our enquiries, two people, only described at this time as wearing dark clothing, are seen at the van and it then catches fire. They run off from Brown Street onto Dundyvan Road.

"The van was extensively damaged with the cost to replace running into thousands of pounds.

"If you have any information that will assist officers with their investigation, then please call Coatbridge CID via 101 quoting reference number 0080 of 2 March, 2021. Details can also be passed anonymously to Crimestoppers on 0800 555 111."
