Coatbridge museum to host exciting nautical exhibition for second year running

IT isn’t going overboard to say that visitors to Summerlee Museum will sail into a sensational day out later this year.

The Coatbridge venue has announced that it will host Culture NL’s second annual Ship Ahoy! extravaganza.

The exciting exhibition is back by hugely popular demand, with the event returning on Saturday, April 18.

A Culture NL spokesperson said: “Visitors will get the chance to view displays of model ships, photography and historic video footage, plus there will be DVDs, books, postcards and photos for sale.

“Don’t forget, there will also be all the usual Summerlee fun, including working trams, mine tours, play area and café, and Aaron Hawthorne will be playing the Mighty Compton cinema organ.”

Organisations taking part in the exhibition will include Forth and Clyde Canal Society, RNLI, Friends of TS Queen Mary, Scottish Maritime Museum, The Model Steamer Club of Glasgow, SS Explorer Preservation Society and West Highland Steamer Club.

Ship Ahoy! will run from 10am to 5pm on April 18 and for further information, visit https://culturenl.co.uk/
